GFI Check Valves
GFI Check Valves are designed to allow fluid flow in one direction while automatically preventing reverse flow. Operating without the need for manual intervention, these valves help protect pumps, compressors, pipelines and process equipment from backflow and associated pressure surges.
Available in a range of proven configurations including swing, lift, piston, wafer and tilting-disc designs, GFI Check Valves can be selected according to flow characteristics, installation requirements, pressure class and service conditions.
Key Features
Automatic Backflow Prevention
Automatically prevents reverse flow, helping protect pumps, equipment and process pipelines.
No External Actuation Required
Valve operation is driven by the process flow, eliminating the need for manual or powered actuation.
Reliable Sealing
Precision-machined seating surfaces provide dependable closure and help minimize reverse leakage.
Multiple Design Configurations
Swing, lift, piston, wafer and tilting-disc configurations are available for different system requirements.
Robust Construction
Available in carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel constructions for demanding industrial services.
Reduced Flow Reversal Risk
Properly selected closing characteristics help limit reverse flow and reduce the potential for damaging pressure effects.
Available Types
Swing Check Valve
Uses a hinged disc that swings away from the seat during forward flow and returns to the closed position when flow reverses. Suitable for a wide range of liquid and gas services.
Lift Check Valve
The disc moves vertically from the seat under forward flow and returns to the seat when flow reverses. Suitable for applications requiring controlled and reliable closure.
Wafer Check Valve
A compact, lightweight configuration installed between pipe flanges. Its space-saving design makes it suitable for systems where installation space is limited.
Tilting Disc Check Valve
Features a disc that pivots around an offset point to provide rapid response to changes in flow direction and help reduce pressure surges and water hammer.
Piston Check Valve
Uses a piston or guided disc arrangement for controlled movement and dependable seating, making it suitable for high-pressure process applications.
Dual Plate Check Valve
Incorporates two spring-assisted plates for compact installation and fast closing action, making it suitable for a variety of industrial piping systems.

Check Valve Applications
GFI Check Valves are used in piping systems where reverse flow must be prevented automatically. They are commonly installed downstream of pumps and compressors, in process pipelines, discharge lines and equipment connections where unwanted backflow could affect system performance or damage connected equipment.
The appropriate check valve design is selected according to fluid characteristics, flow velocity, pressure conditions, installation orientation, required closing response and the potential for pressure surges within the system.
